Aldo Cibic studied in Milan under the guidance of Ettore Sottsass. Still young, he moved to the Lombard capital and in 1980 became a partner in “Sottsass Associati”, along with Matteo Thun and Marco Zanini, and later in Memphis. The 1980s mark a period of professional development for Aldo Cibic, coinciding with the peak phases of experimentation in design and architecture, and stylistic maturation.
In the 1990s, Aldo Cibic founded his own studio, which to this day engages in activities in the fields of architecture, interior projects, and design both in Italy and abroad. Simultaneously, he pursued research on alternative design methodologies in the fields of design and architecture, collaborating with academic institutions such as the Domus Academy, the Polytechnic University of Milan, the IUAV University of Venice, and Tongji University in Shanghai, where he holds the position of Honorary Professor.

Metal Affinities is an invitation to explore the world of design through the distinctive lens of De Castelli. A universe that narrates stories of innovation and creativity, where deep dialogues between objects, surfaces and architecture are heard. Metal expresses itself in a fluid manifestation of its essence: a universal material that shapes space, integrating seamlessly in perfect harmony. These affinities, surpassing the very surface of perception, fade into the unsaid: a whispered invitation to discover the most intimate connections of beauty.
Faithful to its decision to reinstate the special role of metal in design and experimentation, De Castelli infuses artisan ideas and workmanship into industrial processes, leading to entirely original results. The encounter with design inspires an approach to materials founded upon respect for their potential, be it hidden or obvious, which emerges slowly in a collection of pieces that, despite being part of a series, remain unique. Unique not only for the hand that has created them, but also for the singular cultural path that focuses on the aesthetic (and not just practical) value of the primordial material with which De Castelli shapes living spaces.
