The member of the 24 Karat Blau family 24 Karat Blau Wall gives off wonderfully warm, friendly light. The shades are handmade individually in Japan. In a unique process, the wafer-thin gold leaf is cast in acrylic. The gold leaf is beaten to a thickness of 1/10,000 mm, so that short-wave blue light can penetrate between the molecules, whilst yellow-gold light is reflected. The shades each have four drill holes, with which they can be hung on the frame at various different angles. The cable and rods are red. Dimensions of one shade: 17.8 x 26.3 cm. The lighting effect can also be produced using light sources with LED strings.

Axel Schmid, born in 1971, completed his studies in woodworking and metalworking before attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, where he graduated in 1997. Supported by a grant from the German Association of Industrial Designers, he spent a year in Japan. He later worked for lighting designer Ingo Maurer in Munich.
Ingo Maurer started to design exceptional lamps, lighting systems and objects beginning in the middle of the 1960s, which his company produces and distributes worldwide. This is why we can realize our ideas without compromises.
