Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002), born in Milan, was a pivotal figure in Italian design alongside his brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo. He studied architecture, embracing a comprehensive design approach. The trio’s innovative designs, notably the iconic Arco lamp, played a crucial role in shaping the playful intelligence synonymous with Italian design in the latter half of the 20th century. Achille co-founded the ADI in 1956 and later became a prominent educator in Artistic Design for Industry. He received 9 Compasso d’Oro awards, and his works, including 14 pieces owned by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, are showcased in esteemed museums globally.
